Sun, 09/07/2014 - 00:02 -- jenn

The CryptoWall Virus has been making its way through hundreds of thousands of computers and earning cybercrooks literally millions of dollars.  This new breed of virus, called ransomware, takes all of your computer files hostage by encrypting them with military level encryption.  Unencrypting the files manually would be impossible.  To get the key to unencrypt and recover your files, you are asked to pay a "ransom" in BitCoin, an untraceable form of digital currency.

CAUTION! Don't Upgrade That Drupal or WordPress Site Quite Yet!

Wed, 04/23/2014 - 21:47 -- jenn

One of the strong upsides to using Drupal or WordPress for your website, is the fact that an open source community is constantly tinkering away, making the platform better and more secure.  Keeping up with core updates and module or plug-in updates is important.  Updates for both of these platforms come out fairly frequently and with a little knowledge can be completed fairly easily...assuming nothing goes wrong.  If you're in the tech industry and work with websites or code, you know the cardinal rule is to backup your site before you begin.

There are a lot of articles out there that will talk up how awesome a particular CMS is and another article with an equal number of complaints.  A CMS is awesome, provided you‘ve chosen the right CMS for your end goals and have a professional helping you make the most of the software.  While it’s nice to think that you can easily use a site CMS bundle right out of the box, the fact is that your site will be far more valuable to you if a professional assists in building it.

Here are some of the top CMS complaints and how to avoid their pitfalls.

HTML5 Audio Players and Internet Explorer Don't Play Nice

Tue, 04/23/2013 - 17:34 -- jenn

Recently, while building a page full of audio snippets for a client, we ran into a show-stopping bug.  The page was comprised of 12 blocks.  Each block highlighted a voice artist and included a pure HTML5 player to allow users to hear voice samples.  In the initial testing, we had just 3 of these voice artist blocks on the page.  We had successful playback in Internet Explorer 8 and 9 as well as Chrome, Sarfari and Firefox.

Facebook Account Verification - Verification code too long?

Fri, 03/23/2012 - 10:18 -- jenn

I ran across an interesting issue this afternoon, while setting up a developer's account on facebook for a client.  Facebook was requiring us to verify her account by entering a mobile number to receive a confirmation code by way of text message.  We easily navigated our way through, with the client on the phone to read off the confirmation code to me so I could enter it into facebook.  Each time we received a code (we tried multiple times), the code sent was 8 characters long, but the field would only accept 6 characters.  I was completely stymied and unable to find a resolution through fa
