I ran across an interesting issue this afternoon, while setting up a developer's account on facebook for a client. Facebook was requiring us to verify her account by entering a mobile number to receive a confirmation code by way of text message. We easily navigated our way through, with the client on the phone to read off the confirmation code to me so I could enter it into facebook. Each time we received a code (we tried multiple times), the code sent was 8 characters long, but the field would only accept 6 characters. I was completely stymied and unable to find a resolution through facebook help or general Google searches.
In a final act of desperation, Liem suggested trying to change the HTML code using Firebug (a popular developer's tool for Firefox). The field that accepted the confirmation code was set to maxlength="6". I set it to "8" and then clicked the Confirm button. To my amazement, it was accepted and I was able to complete the project. Hopefully this little hack will help someone else along the way.
